Edified Energiser Grants – 2024 winners

We’re delighted to announce the winners of our 2024 Edified Energiser Grants.This year, two outstanding individuals/groups have been awarded A$5000 each to support the growth and impact of their projects. Both initiatives are dedicated to improving education within their nominated communities and fit within Edified’s ethos of wishing to sponsor positive social change through education.

Each project has at least one student or alumni from an education provider anywhere in the world. We look forward to seeing how the projects evolve over the coming years.

The 2024 winners are:

Winner 1

Radio Refuge – River Nile School

Empowering refugee women by supporting the enhancement of oral, written, and English language skills

The Refugee Radio Program, Radio Refuge, empowers young refugee and asylum-seeker women at River Nile School by using storytelling and media production as transformative educational tools. The program enhances oral, written, and English language skills while building confidence and fostering creativity. Participants, aged 15-24, receive training in interviewing, audio recording, and broadcasting, culminating in live broadcasts on Live FM.

Radio Refuge celebrates cultural diversity and supports community connections through shared stories, bilingual presentations, and a youth-led community event. This innovative program inspires self-expression, combats isolation, and opens pathways to further education and careers, helping participants thrive as confident community leaders. Winner 2

Children climate art response through power of play & goodness project - Philippines

Using art as a tool to educate children, spread awareness, and empower them to become climate activists and leaders

This children-led climate art response and action project activates the transformative power of play, art, and storytelling to empower marginalised children and youth as active citizens. Focused on vulnerable children from remote Philippine islands, including children of incarcerated women, in partnership with Super Inday Co-love which fosters environmental awareness and accountability.

Island children from Negros, Bantayan, Siquijor, and Bohol Islands are given experiential platforms through the power of play to start them young to nurture the seeds of goodness to participate in the real village agenda such as the climate crisis. Initiated by Rosa Zerrudo with Himaya children green warriors in Negros Occidental, the project emerged as a psychosocial response to Super Typhoon Odette's devastating impact in 2021.

A core team member of the Climate Art Response project is an alumni of the Queensland University of Technology, Queensland, Australia
